CEO AND BOARD MARKETING UPDATE PREP
Build the agenda before a leadership or board slot. Pipeline, efficiency, risk and one ask, scaled to the time you actually have, so you walk in with a shape rather than a deck.
How it works
- Choose the room: a one to one, the leadership team, or the board.
- Set the period you are reporting and how long you have.
- Tick what you can actually table. Anything unticked comes back as a prep gap.
- Generate the pack, fill the number blanks from your own sources, and walk in.
Your leadership prep pack will appear here.
Fill the blanks from your own systems, then go. If you still need the artefact to leave behind, build it with the one-page marketing report, and use the pipeline contribution calculator if the numbers themselves are the argument.
A meeting aid, not financial or governance advice. Adjust it for your own board pack rules and confidentiality obligations. Nothing you enter is sent anywhere or stored.

The slot is shorter than the story
Most marketing updates are written for the time the work deserved and delivered into the time the agenda allows. Five minutes with a twenty-minute narrative is how a good quarter reads as waffle. Choosing the slot first and building backwards is unglamorous and it is the whole trick: fewer beats, one risk, one ask, and the detail left in the pack you hand over rather than in the sentences you say.
One ask, not a wish list
A room can decide one thing. Given six asks it declines the set, or picks the cheapest, and either way the important one is gone. Write the ask before the update, not after it, because knowing what you are asking for changes which numbers matter. The artefact you leave behind is a separate job: build that with the one-page marketing report.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Does this replace the one-page marketing report?
No. The one-pager is the artefact you leave behind. This is the agenda and the ask you rehearse before you walk in.
Will it invent my numbers?
No. It leaves the figures blank and prompts you for them. Everything comes from your CRM, your finance system and your channel reports.
Is it only for boards?
No. It covers a one to one with a chief executive and a leadership team update as well. Board mode tightens the language and puts risk earlier.
What if I have no ask this period?
Say that out loud in the meeting. A period with no ask is a legitimate answer, and it is better than letting the room decide what your ask was.
